“Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” (Psalm 85:6). God’s people had been in captivity. The gracious God of their fathers had delivered them. They were free and for a season they served God. But they eventually settled for ease and turned their back against God. His anger visited them; they needed His deliverance again. They needed revival. To revive is to bring back hope. It is the restoration of life and freshness. Revival brings true joy; the satisfaction we long for will only come as the Lord visits us with the outpouring of His Spirit.
