Study 22 – CHRIST'S UNFAILING POWER TO RAISE THE DEAD (2)

Point 3. CONSCIOUS PERPETUAL PRESERVATION AFTER PRONOUNCED DEATH

Hebrews 9:27; Luke 16:22

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Hebrews 9:27). There are two sides, saints and sinners, hell and heaven. “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried” (Luke 16:22).  Two parts:

(i) The Immediate Consciousness of Saints after Death – Luke 23:42-43; John 17:24; Acts 7:55-59; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:21-23; Revelations 2:7; 14:13. “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). There is no interval between death and life in paradise. Immediately that thief on the cross died, he went to be with Jesus in Paradise, Heaven. Immediately saints of God die, they go to Heaven and see Christ’s glory given by the Father (John 17:24). There is no roaming about on the earth and there is no purgatory. Stephen saw the heavens opened and Jesus standing to welcome him home. (Acts 7:55-59). We go to the very presence of God (2 Corinthians 5:8). “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them” (Revelations 14:13). Your good works of evangelism and righteousness will follow you into Heaven. Remain righteous as a saint and if the Rapture is delayed and you die, you will go straight into Heaven.

(ii) The Instantaneous Consciousness of Sinners after Death – Luke 16:22-26; Mark 9:43-44; 2 Thessalonians 1:8; Revelations 14:10-11. “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame” (Luke 16:23-24). There is consciousness right after death. The rich man could talk and remember things. You will not die the death of a sinner, for they will be tormented forever and ever in Hell (Revelations 14:11).

We have learnt about the death of young people, that the Lord is able to raise the dead. However, it is important to prevent death by living righteously and holily before God and man. Also, when the saints die, they go into heaven but for sinners, (you must be saved) when they die, they go to hell consciously. Now, if you are here with terminal disease and you don’t want to die yet, if you will only believe and fear not, all things are possible. Sicknesses and untimely death are vanished away, and you will live – holy, righteous, happy, healthy, sound life, and every sickness will be taken away from you. Anytime negative prophecy or dream come, turn away from them and turn unto the Lord in prayer, like king Hezekiah, and the Lord will answer your prayer (2 Kings 20:1- 7). And you will recover. This is your time to live!

Ponder on this! Whatever might be the challenge of your life, no matter how great, small or desperate – attacked by demons, afflicted by disease, anguished by death of a loved one, Christ is the timely solution. Come to Christ and be relieved. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Ponder on this! Preventable and avoidable death don’t need prayer and fasting, but patience, humility, righteousness and you will not die before your time. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Ponder on this! Jesus Christ taught people ways to live so that they will not die avoidable or premature death. Learning and living to prevent untimely death is wiser than praying after the person has died. Learning and living to prevent untimely death is easier than to raise the dead. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Hard Sayings – Sometimes, a religious circle with their traditions can tie you down. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Reflection – Jesus raised up the people that had death in them when they shouldn’t have died. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Words on the Marble – Righteousness protects believers from early and untimely death. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.
