DIVINE APPOINTMENT FOR GOD’S NEW COVENANT PEOPLE

DIVINE APPOINTMENT FOR GOD’S NEW COVENANT PEOPLE

Gleans from Sunday Covenant Service Message of Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

DLBC Gbagada, Lagos HQ

27th January 2019

Preamble

A covenant is an agreement between two parties, the divine and the human. When God makes a covenant with us, He is faithful and you will find His promises fulfilled in your life for a happier and greater life in Jesus Name.  As we think of the covenant with God, He makes a pact, an agreement with us, and He makes a promise with us that He is going to bless us. On the side of God, there is Faithfulness while on our side Obedience, this is not a lip service or superficial obedience but –

(1) Prompt obedience – no delay; (2) Personal obedience – not waiting to see if any other will obey; and every fulfilment of the word of God in your life will be personal in Jesus Name; (3) Practical obedience – there must be positive evidence and proof, something tangible, different from last year; (4) Prayerful Obedience – without prayer obedience will be done in the flesh. You seek the Lord for grace, power and enablement to obey His word. (5) Peaceful Obedience – not done stepping on other people’s toes, contradicting everything orderly; but done with peace in your heart and with no conflict in the church or family. (6) Proper Obedience – do exactly what God commands and prescribed, not your wish. (7) Persevering Obedience – you get tired but take another step in the strength of the Lord, and the goodness of God will be manifested in your life in Jesus name.

May the Lord find you faithful.

Topic – DIVINE APPOINTMENT FOR GOD’S NEW COVENANT PEOPLE

2 Chronicles 11:4; 1 Kings 12:24; Job 23:14; Proverbs 21:30; 1 Kings 11:31,40

“Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam” (2 Chronicles 11:4). This is the key that will give you peace of mind, open the gate of prosperity, fulfilment and blessings upon your life. When there is confusion, you’re at a crossroad, and there are pressures from all angles, you want to find out if this is coming from the Lord. Job knew and said, “For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him” (Job 23:14). So, as you come to the New year, before you take any action regarding a situation, and before you get discouraged and allow sorrow to grip your heart, you need to find out from the Lord if what is happening is appointed of Him for you (Proverbs 21:30). Many get into unnecessary conflicts in their lives because they failed to understand that that thing is from the Lord; and they go off tangent of the plan, project, prospect, program, purpose for their life.  We find this in the life of Esau seeking to destroy Jacob; Joseph’s brothers versus Joseph; Aaron and Mariam criticized Moses and she became leprous; Korah, Dathan and Abiram opposed Moses and Aaron’s leadership and were destroyed; Saul against David; and Solomon sought to kill Jeroboam (1 Kings 11:31,40). Life will be a series of lost battles if we do not realize what is from the Lord; we must therefore always seek God. Whatever God has ordained for your life nothing coming from anywhere can change it and none can destroy it. As you go through this new year, the hand of the Lord will be upon your life, the promises of God and His angels will go before you anywhere you go; and remember that whatever happens, negative, oppressive and cruel, leave them aside and know, it is from the Lord who will change them into blessings.

3 points:

Point 1. FIGHT NOT, THIS THING IS FROM ME

2 Chronicles 11:1-4; Genesis 45:5,7-8; Isaiah 28:29; Isaiah 46:10,11; Deuteronomy 1:42; 2:4-5; Acts 5:39; 23:9,11; Romans 8:28

As you look at the lives of the people that have gone before us, they understood that although the hand of a foe, a stranger might be in a situation, yet they will not fight against any man and were quiet, silent, will not pass any comment because they knew that this thing is from the Lord. “Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life” “So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God:” (Genesis 45:5,8a). Joseph knew that God was in the plan for his brethren to sell him into slavery: it fitted into His plan and project for him. There is no day, no challenge, and there is not an item that is accomplished in your life that God is not involved in. So fight not if this thing is from Him. “This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working” (Isaiah 28:29). What is that thing in your life and family? The Lord knows the end and outcome of your life, so He orchestrates everything that happens to accomplish the expected end He has in mind for you. No disappointment, you will have peace in your mind and rest in your soul, so fight not. All the plans of God will be fulfilled in your life. “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:10). All the plans and purpose of God for your life will be fulfilled in Jesus name. Unexpected help will come to accomplish His purpose. The Lord will do something beyond your expectation; He will link you with those who will help bring to accomplishment His purpose for your life. He has purposed it He will do it. Lack of money will hinder what God has purposed.

“And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye e smitten before your enemies. So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.” (Deuteronomy 1:42).  For backsliders and sinners, while you are drifting away, the Lord is telling you that His plans and project for your life are suspended until you come back to Him. “Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, …. Because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession. (Deuteronomy 2:5). The people you are afraid of, the Lord will command them, ‘meddle not with him’. God was even protecting Esau’s property, so you need to understand that the Lord will protect and take care of you. Realize as you go through life that this thing is from the Lord, and when it has accomplished its purpose, that thing will vanish away. “But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God” (Acts 5:39). Your life, place, position, prosperity and everything that the Lord had ordained for you is of God, and no man can fight against it for they will be fighting against God (Acts 23:9).  The promise of God is for you and you must succeed in what God has promised you. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). In your life and family as you pray you will know. For the believer, all things will work together for good in your life, family and ministry this year. Fight not, this thing is from me.

Point 2. FEAR NOT – THY TREASURE IS STILL MUCH

2 Chronicles 11:3-4; Psalms 87:2,3,5; 132:13-16; Joel 2:21-29,32; Matthew 2:6; 13:44; Colossians 2:3,9-10; 2 Peter 1:3-4; Revelations 21:1-7

“Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying, Thus saith the Lord, ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house, for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the Lord… (2 Chronicles 11:3-4). What did Rehoboam have left? He had Judah and Benjamin under it, with the city of Jerusalem and Zion the palace of the king, which the Lord loves. “The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.” (Psalms 87:2-3). All the other tribes put together did not have much weight and profit in value and prophecies to the rest of the world compared with Judah. So Rehoboam, fear not, your treasure is still much. Whatever might have happened to you, count your blessings, and you will see that you still have much. Thank God, you have much with Jesus, the promises of God, answered prayers, joy, miracles and heaven, you have much. “I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy” (Psalms 132:16). Salvation of the whole world was to come through the Messiah born in Bethlehem of Judah. You will have testimony. The concentration was what fell to Rehoboam. So when you think of what the Lord did through Jerusalem and Judah, you will see that Rehoboam did not lose anything at all. What remains in your life is a treasure from heaven.

“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call” (Joel 2:32). This was what fell unto Rehoboam. Nothing to fear for thy treasure is still much. Count your blessing and you will see what the Lord has done in your life in Jesus Name. Great things happening in Bethlehem under Rehoboam, so likewise everyone associated with this Church, Deeper Life, great things will happen in your life, they meet you on the streets and everywhere this year in Jesus Name (Matthew 2:6). Our treasure is much in Christ (Matthew 13:44). All things in Jesus you have: You have salvation, healing, deliverance, sanctification, Holy Ghost baptism, provision and answer to prayers (Colossians 2:3). Treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hid in Christ and you are complete in Him (Colossians 2:10). God will do a creative miracle and replace what is missing in your life in Jesus Name. You are partaker of His divine nature and escaped the corruption in the world. There is miracle every day in your life (2 Peter 1:3,4). “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). All things are available for you, fear not, thy treasure is still much. Even the new heaven is named after Jerusalem in Judah (Revelations 21:2). This year, the treasure of the Lord will bring fulfilment in every one of our lives in Jesus Name.

Point 3. FOLLOW ON – TRIUMPH BELONGS TO THE MEEK

2 Chronicles 11:4,16-17; Hosea 6:3; Matthew 5:5; 11:28-30; Galatians 5:22-23; Colossians 3:12; 2 Timothy 2:21-22,24-25; Zephaniah 2:3; Psalms 147:6; 25:9; 22:26-28; 37:11,1-9,17-19,23,25,29-31,34,37,40

There is pressure coming, and you are afraid that you will not finish well: you will finish well, nothing will hold you back. Rehoboam and his warriors wanted to fight but when the Lord told them not to fight for this thing is done of me, they dropped their weapons, became meek and turned back. “And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers. So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon” (2 Chronicles 11:16-17). You need to strengthen what remains in your life, the Christian experiences, power of the Holy Ghost. The Lord’s blessing will follow you all throughout this year; no need in your life that will not be met.  The Lord wants us to be meek because in that meekness every provision and blessing of the Lord will flow into our life and family. “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). If you believe that, you will not fight or struggle for anything on earth; you will not push anybody down to have your way, because all blessings are reserved for the meek on the earth. You will have rest in your soul, spirit, body, family, spiritually, materially and emotionally. Be meek like Christ to inherit with Him. If the fruit of the Spirit is there, you will be meek, no fighting and no anger (Galatians 5:22-23). Purge yourself from anything that brings fight, struggle, debate and anger. (2 Timothy 2:21). We are not to strive with any man (2 Timothy 2:24-25). Meekness will make us to seek the Lord and gentleness more (Zephaniah 2:3).  There is lifting up for the meek (Psalms 147:6). You will not make a mistake that will crush your life, or ruin your prospects, for the Lord will guide and teach you in the way you will go in Jesus Name (Psalms 25:9). “The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever” (Psalms 22:26). Hunger, famine and lack will not visit your life and family, you will have enough to feed on, pay your rents, take care of your children, provide for the whole family and that new baby coming on the way, you will have enough in Jesus Name.

Remember this year, fight not, fear not and follow on. Do not fret, no anxiety, no worry (Psalms 37:1), and your end is peace, prosperity, progress, power, and security (Psalms 37:37); Greater help in your life from today (Psalms 37:40). You are going to come into plenty, prosperity and security this year: Joy, happiness, promotion and the desires of your heart fulfilled in Jesus Name. No fighting, no fear, no fretting, follow on, the best of life is before you.
