GOD’S BANNER OVER US WHILE REIGNING ON EARTH

Psalm 20:1-5; 60:4-6,11-12; Romans 5:17,21; Revelations 5:10; 2 Chronicles 29:1-3; 31:20,21; Romans 8:17; Galatians 3:28,29

“…..the LORD fulfil all thy petitions” (Psalms 20:5). From this day, the Lord fulfil all thy petitions in Jesus Name. Through God, we shall do valiantly (Psalms 60:11). While you are reigning here on earth, His banner will be over you. From the time of Adam and Eve, sin had reigned and had dominion over everyone that came to this world, but through the redemption of Christ, and those who come to Him based on His Atonement and Sacrifice, they will reign in life, and you are one of those people (Romans 5:17,21). “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelations 5:10). We shall reign in life. For the Lord will count you worthy to reign on earth. There are others that have gone before us, and they left us a model and pattern on how to reign on earth. Hezekiah was responsible to the Lord and did that which was right. There were three people in the life of Hezekiah, which had impact on his life; these were David, Moses and Isaiah. He looked at David, a man of history, appreciated and loved by God because he was a man after God’s heart, and Hezekiah looked at David, and followed his example in pleasing the Lord. He followed the counsel of Moses, the Lawgiver and Isaiah, who ministered at the time of Hezekiah, his father, grandfather and great grandfather as well. From these models he lived right before the Lord with all his heart and prospered. His reign was throughout all Judah not just in Jerusalem, the city (2 Chronicles 31:20,21).

Royalty, ruling and reigning in the land of Judah and Israel was limited to very few in that land. In the world today, opportunities to reign and rule are limited and restricted to few, but life in Christ’s Kingdom is different. We are saved to reign, rule, overcome, conquer, and have dominion now in this present life and hereafter, because we are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ, our Lord and King, we are called to conquer, rule, and we are going to reign and be glorified with Christ in Jesus Name (Romans 8:17). The middle wall of partition between Jews and Gentiles, bond and free is broken down. We have the same promises of God, grace, salvation and privilege available to all to reign with Christ (Galatians 3:28,29). The believer’s reign on earth is greater and higher than that of any king in Israel, and Hezekiah as well but we need to learn from him.

3 points:

Point 1: PERSONAL REFLECTION AND READINESS WITH A PREPARED HEART

2 Kings 18:1-6; 2 Chronicles 29:1-5,15-16; Job 11:13-18; 22:21-28; Proverbs 16:1-3

Hezekiah began to reign, now is the time for you to reign as well. “And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did” (2 Kings 18:3). David was not his direct father nor grandfather neither great grandfather, he lived centuries before him, but Hezekiah made him a model to follow. You will follow a good model. Before this time, the children of Israel had sinned and were bitten by serpents, but they repented and cried unto God, and God instructed Moses to make a brazen serpent and just as they looked unto it, they were healed; but it was a one-time instruction. However, some of the children of Israel carried and hid that thing from the time of Moses, Joshua, the Judges and kings to the time of Ahaz, Hezekiah’s father and it became an idol to worship. But Hezekiah came as a Reformer to deal with all forms of idolatry. You will be a Reformer when God exalts and promotes you to a position of influence, and you will put right whatever is wrong there in Jesus Name. On one hand, an example, David, and other hand, an Instructor, Moses the Lawgiver that followed the instructions of the word of God. When you follow the written word, and the example of the person who is following that written word, your life will be different, heaven will mark you out, and you will have a life that reigns in Jesus name. “He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them” (2 Chronicles 29:3). This was a man that will not waste time, a man of action. There was something personal and practical, he was a reflective man, thinking over the situation of the children of Israel and he took action, to do a reformation. Renewal, resurrection and restoration in your life will begin today in Jesus Name. He instructed the Levites to cleanse the House of God of all filthiness.  Your body is the temple of the Lord, and He wants anything defiling inside your heart, spirit and body to be taken away from your life: and thank God, this is the day that all those defilements will be taken away in Jesus Name. “And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD” (2 Chronicles 29:15). They did not spare any iniquity, they carried out all the defilement. You see this man had the prophet Isaiah before him, to follow his counsel and word. All the kings in Israel were measured and were either commended or condemned by the standard that David left behind. Hezekiah reflected, sought the Lord, prepared his heart and kept the standard of David before him, and he wrought righteousness, restored true worship of God, and challenged all the people to be obedient and the Levites to be sanctified. He showed a good example himself in following and serving the Lord with a prepared heart. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of David is our Saviour, Sanctifier, Standard, and He is higher than David the king. As we look at the life of Jesus Christ, and we compare our life with and reflect on the model and pattern that He left, the examples and the instructions He left behind, with a prepared heart, our lives are going to turn around. We are going to have a better and richer life, a deeper understanding, go higher, do greater and deeper than Hezekiah, and reformation will be in our life in Jesus Name.

“If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him” (Job 11:13). This is where it starts, with a prepared heart. Then a new day will begin in your life; you will shine forth. No insecurity, unexpected danger, nor evil befall you, you will be secured (Job 11:18). You are blessed this morning. The Lord will defend and prosper you; He will hear your prayer today (Job 22:22-27). “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” (Job 22:28). The Lord promotes you to reign, and now your word will carry authority as an heir of God and joint-heir with Christ, and you will be a conqueror on earth. There is a new journey, destiny and a new height that you are getting to, prepare your heart (Proverbs 16:1).

POINT 2: PRACTICAL RENEWAL AND RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH A PURPOSEFUL HEART

Daniel 1:8; Psalms 17:3; Proverbs 15:22-24; 20:18; Psalms 33:8-19; Isaiah 44:24-26

You are on earth not just to wander about, but you have a goal and target before you, and you make up your mind and are purposeful to reach there. You will get there in Jesus Name.

There was a practical record as we look at the life of this man Hezekiah. Can somebody take record of your life like this, that since you became born again and since you came to this Church, hearing the word, we can see the effect of God’s word in your life and family? See what he did. If there is no good record, today, angels will begin to record something good about your life.

If you go through life, and you don’t make up your mind before you leave your house that you have a purpose, a destiny, a height you are going to reach, a pattern and model to follow, Society will decide the direction you are to go. The people around you will force their ways on you: but for you, your life will count. Like Hezekiah, you came into the kingdom for something definite: but you have to purpose in your heart to achieve this. “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself” (Daniel 1:8). If you live in Babylon or any major city and village on earth, you will have to purpose in your heart, that this is where I am coming from, this is where I am in the grace of God, and this is where I am going to get to by the grace of God. Set goals and targets for your life and ministry and the broom of heaven will sweep away any thing that will hinder you from achieving them in Jesus name. Think about Hezekiah now, with the evil reign of his father and the contagious nature of the idolatrous practice in the land, it would have been natural for him to follow the way others have gone, but he made up his mind to swim against the tide. You know, dead fish flow with river because there is no strength but if the fish is alive, then it is going to swim against the tide. All the tide of iniquity in this land, you will swim against it in Jesus Name. Make your purpose of heart unshakable, irresistible and non-negotiable with the world. Hold it so tight to your heart that you are not going to be like the rest of the world, and God will make you different. “Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress” (Psalms 17:3). I am determined that this life will be distinct and different from all others, and the Lord will confirm it. You will see that Hezekiah always sought counsel from Prophet Isaiah (Proverbs 15:22). Don’t let any man threaten your life; this height you are going to climb, and that destiny you will make it in Jesus Name. Hezekiah didn’t live as if there was no counsel; there was a God in heaven and a prophet in the land of Israel. Because of this, he had renewal and righteousness, and he did not fail. You will not fail as well.

“Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war” (Proverbs 20:18). You have a purposeful heart. Targets and set goals in life for your spiritual, personal, professional and family are established by counsel.  Hezekiah succeeded, and your time has come, you will succeed as well in Jesus Name. The counsel of the Lord for your life will stand; you are chosen, and the Lord will fulfil the purpose of that choice in Jesus Name (Psalms 33:8-19). By the way any challenge came into your life, by that way it will go in Jesus name. Welcome to victory, reigning and conquering life in Jesus Name. Every good thing said about you is confirmed in Jesus Name (Isaiah 44:24-26). You will see something good; renewal, revival and resurrection in your life in Jesus Name.

Point 3: PASSIONATE REQUEST AND RESOLUTENESS WITH A PERFECT HEART

2 Kings 20:1-6; Psalms 91:16,1-15

Whatever it will take, with passionate request, resoluteness and a perfect heart, you are going to get there; thorns and pebbles in the way will not hinder you. You are an achiever, a man of high purpose. I see glory ahead of you.

“In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.” Don’t stop here, negative prophecy is not the end of life, it is just a new beginning. A change is going to happen, for our GOD will hear about this one. “Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the King of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake. (2 Kings 20:1, 5-6) What if Hezekiah had kept quiet and agreed that it was all over? You will not keep quiet. God will hear your prayers. He has a record written about you in heaven of your good works of righteousness. Every negative situation will be cancelled. It is very important what God is calling you this morning. He called Hezekiah, captain of my people.

Passionate request – (1) A perplexing problem – Vs. 1; (2) The prophetic pronouncement; (3) His passionate prayer – Vs. 2; (4) His perfect portrait – Vs. 3; (5) The prompt performance – Vs. 4. No delay to your prayer today; (6) The positive promise – Vs. 5. Negative prophecy is cancelled in your life; and (7) His prolonged period – Vs. 6. Extension coming upon your life and expansion of blessing. An extra fifteen years added; when you come to the end of your life, there will be an extra of fifteen years added to you by God!

Psalms 91:1-16 shall be fulfilled in your, in Jesus name. Evil shall not come near your dwelling. The Lord will protect and preserve your life.

Ponder on this! If you live in Babylon or any major city and village on earth, you will have to purpose in your heart that this is where I am coming from, this is where I am in the grace of God, and this is where I am going to get to by the grace of God. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Ponder on this! Dead fish flow with the river because there is no strength, but if the fish is alive, then it is going to swim against the tide. All the tide of iniquity in this land, you will swim against it in Jesus Name. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Reflections – When you follow the written word, and the example of the person who is following that written word, your life will be different, and you will have a life that reigns in Jesus name. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.
